![]() ![]() I found the book creepy enough that I couldn't read it at night. ![]() Now I've seen the movie (the subtitled one) and read the book. Overall, I think this could have been a tighter story with some strategic editing and some more answers. Where did the blood from those gallon jugs come from? Why was Eli sleeping in it? I was disappointed.Ħ) Perhaps I am missing something, but I was confused as to why Eli was "sleeping" in a tub of blood when Lacke found him. The parts where he kisses Oskar so that Oskar has visions are intriguing, yet I have more questions than answers now.ĥ) The author hints at Eli being some kind of shape-shifter (Eli sprouts claws before attacking Virginia and looks less than human in other ways too), but he doesn't elaborate further. I'm unsure why the author shifts the focus to Tommy at all.ģ) Storyline involving the group of drunks and Lacke and Virginia is at times tedious and not as suspenseful as the main storyline involving Oskar, Eli, and Hakan.Ĥ) I would have liked to understand more about Eli's origins. It does help to further illustrate Oskar's feeling of loneliness and disillusionment, but I feel the book doesn't really need it.Ģ) Storyline involving Tommy and Staffan also seems pointless. I give it four instead of five stars for the following reasons:ġ) Storyline involving Oksar and his dad seems unnecessary. ![]()
